I think it's a knapsack hook

Very similar too a Knapsack hook but do not think this went on a civil war military knapsack but something else like a pouch or something in that nature or another form of knapsack that was not issued too most regiments or maybe civilian use. Good luck with it.

I think it might be a hook from a sword belt like the one to the far right, looks pretty similar.

I think you are exactly right this is the same type hook on Sword Belt ! Knew i had seen this style hook before but could not recall but now looking @ the photo that could be it!
