CW bullets & Small soldier

I hit the plantation after work for a few hours today. No coins today, just lead. ;D
My finds were:

*Small lead soldier w/some paint still on it.

*3-ringer

*Enfield (?)

*Lead shot.

*Small buckle.

*Large rusty iron whatsit with a brass piece attached.
Any idea on this one. It was DEEP!!!

Thanks,
MM

I think your iron/brass piece is from a draft horse harness. the brass piece looks like where the reins came through.

Looks like we are in agreement!

That makes good sense. I found it next to the carriage house.
Thanks Guys for the ID.

Love the soldier! I've found pieces of a few, but nothing as intact as that one. Keep at it, and Bob's Reale might seem like a mere token!

Thanks everybody. I love that little guy too. I think it is only my 2nd complete soldier. My other one was a WW2 medic, and all others have been busted ones.
I missed this target in the front yard my first time through. It was a solid signal this time, so I must not of passed my coil over it the first time.

The small, thin, brass buckle I'm 99% certain is a Kepi Buckle. Nice CW find there too!

Yes, I'm quoting myself LOL! I just wanted to underscore the fact that I have never found a kepi buckle--with all of the different CW spots I have hunted. Never. The last one found was recovered by Kindafoundabuckle. So--great find, buddy! I'd take that over a bullet anyday...well, except for a complete dropped Shaler :o
Now I'm gonna have to sue myself for copyright infringement. ;D

Wiil,
I feel honored now. ;D Thanks so much for the ID. I thought I had a shoe buckle. :P This will look great in my CW display.
I found it only 10' from where the CW (plank) road was in front of the house. It was right next to a large oak tree where there was a thick layer of leaves around it. I've been working my coil under the leaves wherever I can, and have been picking up some more finds. Also by this tree, I dug up two pieces of a 1940's toy car.
Thanks again for that info. I'm up to four CW bullets and two musket balls so far from this site. Ya-hooo!
I'll be back at it this weekend.

A plank road? :o If you can't see stretches of where it was, it'd be a good one to do some research on--and perhaps some Google Earthing. Anytime I see the words "Plank Road" or "Corduroy Road" on a map, my pulse gets up. These were the Main, early thoroughfares through an area--and items were often dropped down in between the boards. They're more than worth hunting in their own right; a "site" by themselves. Only issue is that you usually have to get multiple property owner's permissions to make a go at it--because you ideally want a decent stretch to hunt. The areas to the sides of them are good too--as people took breaks by the roadside. Nice work, buddy!

BB,
That's exactly what this was. It was the main thoroughfare before. It runs through the front of their property. The main highway now runs parallel to this old road. This property started out as 640 acres established in the 1700's. I can Google Earth it, and see where this road went through what is now woods. It crossed a river about 1/2 mile back, so there may be bridge remnants still there. Remember the "old CW road" I keep referring to? Well that's the one. I was told there was some sort of a station or post set up during the CW close to this river & bridge area. This is the same road I dug the CW bullet with the "57" inside under a tree root a few months back. I'm trying to get permission from the property owner who owns the other section where this road was. It's just too much for one guy to cover. "Too many places, too little time." ;D

Nice work, MM! Should be a good spot for coins as well as relics. The "post" that you refer to might have been a temporary "block house" set up there to watch the bridge. There may or may not be any sign of it left.

Just keep on good terms with the property owner--they sound Awesome--and it looks like you'll have a lot of fun.

Regards,

BB
