CW button and Indian

Hi all,

My partner and I hunted a spot way out in the woods near 3 very small cellar holes. We spent the afternoon out there just before the frozen tundra started in. I found a nice little CW eagle button and a really nice 1888 IH. Not a whole lot of CW relics in our neck of the woods so I'm pleased with my find. We did a lot of walking with the GPS and found another cellar hole for next spring as well as the old road with wagon ruts still in it that the owner has been telling me about for two years! Can't wait for our next time out 8)

Nice coin and beautiful button! Great cleaning job on both as well.

Thanks digger, I cleaned them dry as in not using water or anything else. I use a couple of different paint brushes (I paint antique bottles, ornaments and canvas too) and really take my time. I put them under one of those magnifying glasses with the built in light. I can see closely and make sure not to ruin detail. It works well on some and not so well on really corroded items.

I think this may not actually be the case.

Civil War era military manufactured goods are EVERYWHERE.

This is good to hear. I'm hoping mine was a drop from someone in the war because last time out there my hunting partner found that beautiful officers belt plate. We will discover the area better next year and hope there was some activity out there. Right now are being pummeled with snow and already a foot on the ground and still snowing like crazy 8)
