Dance Hall Token "Good for 7 cents in trade"

Here is a token I dug yesterday, which is unfortunately corroded. Can anyone tell me if the 7 cents denomination is unusual? - Jim

In a word, yes. I'm not clear on why this denomination would have been used, but there are collectors who try to get "one of a denomination" and would love this odd one.

This token is from the San Diego Dance Hall / P. F. Arriola, / prof.(sic). Kappen's CA Tokens book lists it for $5 (in 1976) and notes "Sale of only known specimen in 1975 brought $25).

At least I can point out that this token says PROP. which means either Kappen was in error or there are multiple varieties.

This was found at a site I've hunted about a dozen times now, which I suspect to be an old dump site. A lot of 1920s era stuff has come out of here, including a 'Del Monte Cigar Stand' 'Good for 5 cents in trade' token, lots of teens coins, buttons, etc. Thanks again for the info.
