Not totally out, but was not good. I've been talking To a lady on craigslist who had a gold bracelet for sale. Actually two of them and I met with her I tested them and I didn't want one of them but I wanted the other one. One was 10k one was 14k. They were both good with the acid test and I talked her down to $450 on the one. After driving away I did a double take on the bracelet and I paid her $450 for the 10 karat gold one. I got a mixed up after I tested them. And to make it worse I had had a huge headache and that made it worse! So hopefully I can get my money back out of it it's still a pretty nice bracelet.... But I made a rookie mistake. And I feel sick about it.

The bracelet was a 10k gold 25.6 g. Double class from Italy.

I just about paid spot for it. A little over.

She said she has one more at home she's thinking about selling and she's going to text me a picture of it later tonight hopefully I'll be able to get it under so I can make up for this.

Who is the maker?

Hopefully you didn't make a double mistake.

That piece looks awfully yellow for 10K... and pieces marked ITALY are commonly marked 10K, 14K, and 18K when they are actually plated.

I've done it too in the past. Just consider your money tied up momentarily and if she comes back with more then you can work a little magic to make up for it.

Hope not! It's marked both. I've tested it 3 different places. All good. Not
Magnetic. I would cry! Lol.

I took pictures of it directly under a light.

You are fine. You won't hit a home run every time. Maybe that woman really, really needed that money. You just go on with life...

I had an offer already... Although it was $100 under spot!

Sorry to hear about your deal.

Don't worry though...we all make mistakes when buying stuff for resale.

My most recent mistake was a nearly an S-10 truck bed full of welding rod for $65, that I picked up on a whim. I thought that I had struck oil with that purchase, and I've barely broken even so far. Thankfully, I had them throw in two buckets of rusty tools in the deal, which in the end, made the deal somewhat profitable. My $65 doesn't measure up anywhere close to your $450, but I worked my tail off moving and trying to sell that w-rod. I could have been out buying decent stuff, so in my mind, our dollars aren't too far apart.

Wow, doesn't sound fun! I guess worst case scenario for my eight year wedding anniversary is in February. And the thing will fit my wife! But hopefully somebody will buy it for Christmas!

Sorry, that sounds horrible! Not intended. But making $200 was the plan, not keeping the thing...

If the bracelet doesn't work out for your wife, let me know. I can hook you up with a sweet deal on some underwater welding rod, or maybe a few pounds of gouging electrodes.

I'm telling you, she would love them!

You paid $17.50 a gram for 10k......
If it was actually 14k I would say....
You really paid $17.50 a gram for 14k.......
Not to sound like an ass, but in the gold buying business, you have to buy this stuff so cheep you cant lose. $10/g 10k, $13-$14/g 14k, $15-$18/g 18k etc.
Live and learn I guess, I've bought platinum as 14k, 18k as 10k, 4k as 10k, etc etc all by mistake.
Luckily, I come out on top on 99 out of 100 buys.

From coin roll hunter to professional gold buyer all in a little over a year while still going to school too. I'm very impressed.

Stay away from that lady...she already got you once...cut your losses, shes crafty. :laughing7:

Oh no, that's even worse...your going back, aint you.

Lol no! I decided not to call back at the moment. Going to meet up with a guy I have delt with before instead. I get better deals from him
