I stink at this. I thought I’d find the post I made about returning a cell phone a few weeks ago, so as not to start a whole new thread, but I can’t find it. So the lady was thrilled to get her phone back. Activities she’d organized for non profit 9-11 activities depended on it. I agreed to accept a 9-11 benefit walk shirt but that’s all, and she snuck a $50 gift certificate in there.
Today I saw through the remote camera the beach was heavily sanded in but it was such a nice day I put in two miles, and in the ankle deep water found a woman’s wallet. I texted my wife at work and she located her from her drivers license info on Facebook. Left a message that her wallet was found. Karma rewarded me with a ring a few steps later. And gas money to get home. In the money compartment was ONE NICKEL. I think that’s what saved its life in the water. Nickel/ gold ring. 25 number. I dug it. I hope giving stuff back makes people look more kindly on our hobby, and makes up a little for people who don’t fill holes and drop trash finds back on the sand. Oh yea. And my third toe tag in that beach. 🤢

unbelievable. So I looked for the owners info online using her drivers license. Couldn’t get a phone number. My wife found her on Fakebook and left her a PM. She blocked my wife for what reason? 🤷‍♂️ The wife’s friend is on Linkdin and left a message there. No reply for days now. SO, I decide that’s enough. I just drove to the police station with it and the first thing the desk Sargent asks “where did you find it?” And told me to take it to that town. I asked “Are you serious?” Yep. He was. They have the resources to find in minutes what I’ve been looking for all week. A lousy phone number. I’m beginning to think somebody else already found this wallet on the street and finally THREW it in the ocean. I see cops in the town I found it in holed up in little hides spots all the time in their cruisers. I’ll give it to one of them next time in that town. And the next wallet I find I’ll walk away from. 🙄
