Found awhile back at church site. Only thing I could find was it's Massachusetts institute of technology but no date period. I think it was a uniform button from a jacket. Does Albert's button guide have an online download or is it just a regular book?

It’s an expensive out of print and hard-to-find book with no online equivalent, and the copyright won’t expire until 2061.

I don’t have a copy, but the operating period for John R. Farrell of Boston is reported elsewhere as 1853-1904.

I have a copy of that book and if you can read the back mark you can determine the dates of manufacture…

Thanks didn't know i was pulling stuff quite that old there. This church is in middle of a large city 45 minutes from me. The back woods of the property had an old home and some gold mines. I guess it's worth another visit before it's cleared for development

M.I.T. was founded in 1861, so that narrows it down a bit within Farrell's operating dates.
