Hello,
I couldn't wait to get up and start detecting the tore up street where I found the bust half dime yesterday. I started in the same area but found nothing. I moved up and down the street and still found nothing. I guess it was a fluke that yesterdays coins were in that spot. I was doing some heavy thinking why they would be there..... then I got an idea. Those coins were all gunked up with road material. I theorized that maybe they fell into the crack between the cobble stones that used to be there. I immediately headed over to the piles of bricks where they guys had been dumping them. I spent a lot of time going around the bricks but found nothing. I decide to move way down to the other end of the street and work my way back. There wasn't much of anything in the actual street. In this spot they had tore our some side walk and approaches to buildings. Right at the back door of one of the businesses I found a 1904 Indian head.
In the next drive way I found what I thought was a galvanized 3/4" electrical hole closer. That is until I saw the serrated edges, then I knew it was a silver quarter. It was worn very, very smooth. I could faintly see one of the wings of an eagle that sits on the back of seated coins. The camera did a nice job of zooming in on the date,1876.
I also found a silver ring. Anyone venture to guess it's age?
I can't wait to get back out there. Hopefull the road crew doesn't get it covered up on me.
