DAy 3&4 with the ACE 250

Well I had a guy laugh at me saturday saying "Hah the hobby that pays for itself"! I was like yep as I pulled a stack of three qtrs out of a pocket spill of over 2 bucks! Then he was like I need to get me one of those. I just kept on my way. But no old stuff so far, the oldest QTR is a 65, dime 1966, Nickel 1960, but I'm still trying! But pulled about $20 for the weekend and I'm going out again in about an hour, enjoy the pic, HH

P.S the ACE 250 rocks and in 4 days of hunting $38.00 in Clad and one ring(silver) No regrets in my choice!!

Love that ACE 250. I have been using the 12" coil this year too. Been getting some great depth in the farm fields I've been working. And it still finds the tiniest of items too. For me, the pinpointing has been fine, it has been the reported depths are fluctuate.

EU_Citizen directed me to a website he and some other MDers put together showing how good the 12" coil is on the 250. I see if I can find it again and post it. It was a nice comparison of different detectors.
that would be great thanks

Re: DAy 3&4 with the ACE 250

My ACE 250 rocks,

A little older park that I hunt from time to time has coughed up 5 rings 3 of which are sterling and sterling fork, and a 1908 Barber dime. In addition several dollars in clad. I just hunted another older park and came away with a sterling cross with a gold christ figure. A sterling flat crown with gold in lay around the crown band and a wax stamp signet seal also sterling. In the way of relics I found part of an old band saw blade and an over sized hoe. Lots of other trash and coins all with my ACE250 with the nine inch coil. I am trying the larger coil now trying to get more depth. I am using both coils in all metal mode with reduced sensivity on the larger coil. There is a learning curve but its not terribly steep. HHHH

Re: DAy 3&4 with the ACE 250

well those "independant" peoples test results show that with the standard 6 x 9 coil in relic mode the Ace 250 was within about 1 inch of depth --of standard coil whites xlt in mixed mode -- note the xlt cost about 3 times the 213 cost of the Ace 250* -- at $300 bucks with the big coil package the ace 250 in relic mode --actually beat the whites xlt with a standard coil in mixed mode --- by about 1 inch at half the cost of a xlt .

this just goes to show that the Ace 250 is far from the "toy detector" --some of those carrying bigger, heavier more costly machines think they are --- now of course if one slaps a trash can lid size coil on one of those bigger more costly machines --it will beat the Ace 250's 9 x 12 coil's depth no doubt -- but really isn't that too much like work toting that huge heavy beast around? ---for its overall size , weight, cost and general preformance --it hard to beat the lil yeller fella.

is not a bad machine ... but be patient I have drawn a gold ring ace 150.
greetings.

Re: DAy 3&4 with the ACE 250

Well I can tell you that the Ace 250 is an awesome detector. I have one of the best relic detectors out there. The Fisher F75. Owning the F75 for a specific reason is why I bought it. I bought it to dig Civil war relics. After using it for awhile you can tell what it is made for. Relic hunting. Civil war bullets things of that nature. Believe me it sniffs them out.....NOW the Ace 250..I use it when I want to have fun. This to me is the best detector for the Fun factor. The Ace 250 is a coin shooting monster. When that baby indicates a coin you can just about guarantee what is under that coil. I have dug SO much change and coins using this machine it is rediculous. I have found rings you name it. The more you use the Ace 250 the more you will love it. I bet if you do the type of digging you are doing now you will have that detector paid for in 3 months. Maybe less. REMEMBER it only takes one ring or a nice piece of jewelry to pay for that baby. I have dug several gold rings with mine. You keep on digging and posting pictures and before you know it the gold and silver will start to flow. Remember gold shows up in the pull tab range sometimes closer to 5cents sometimes closer to the penny signal. Dig those targets. You never know.

Re: DAy 3&4 with the ACE 250

yep for finding gold items with the 250 --- smallish or tiny gold items / little kiddie 10k ring came in under "foil" --- small gold womens rings often as "pull tabs" --- bigger mens rings / class rings --nickles ----always dig the nickle signal with the 250!!! --if you're in a good possible gold loss area -- seeking gold --you will have to dig those trashy signals (tabs) to find em.
