Dad & I hit the huge field & continued the slog.

Dad had the Roman Silver Antoninianus, Philip II AD247-249. Broken but our first Roman Silver Coin off this field.

Bits included:
1670s Farthing
Late Medieval Jetton
Late Medieval Strapend.

As we were finishing we found a spread of WWII Aircraft Browning machinegun rounds. They are all dated 1943. These were normally ejected before landing to minimise dangers of explosions. However what interests me is that one of them is fired & clearly exploded in the breech. The shell is blown outwards & is a bulbous shape. Did this somehow cause the bullets to be ejected??

Have I ever told you that I found Christopher Columbus's drivers license? He looked to have been having a bad hair day. hehehe

Dug,
Truely amazing finds as usual. You & your Dad could start a museum with all that you find. Thanks again for another great post.

I generally don't clean coins. I like them in there natural aged state. Most collectors of these type of finds would agree. I used lemon juice on the Roman silver to take of some of the tarnish but I only do this on damaged coins which have no commercial value.
