Has anyone heard this story about a DC 3 that took off from Denver bound for Mexico to deliver gold to the Mexicans to keep them neutral during WWii. The plane left Denver and was never heard from after take off..... If you have any information about this it would be appreciated.

Old thread....But interested in the DC3 story, if you are (ruggertug) still around possibly some details...or maybe someone else...

I do know of a crash site in southwest Colorado - what's left of the plane is still there - high mountains...

Thanks

Thanks...I'll have to look into the story....the wreckage was there just wasn't able to put a story behind it....

Large plane from the time frame, just not quite in the 'path' of Denver to El Paso - Southwestern Colorado

Plus I know the wreckage has been gone through at least a few times over the years...

Should be under snow real soon, if not already....
