Decided to let the coil rest today.

Haven't been very lucky swinging the last several outings, so I thought I'd change things up a bit once more. We haven't really had any moisture to speak of yet, so I figured I might be able to get into my favorite artifact hunting spot still. It's a long ways, several hours drive, but something to do. I had just hunted it 10 weeks ago, but it's sandy and it's been pretty windy this fall. Glad I went! Found this beautiful tip, ouch!Then found this 6 feet away!Notice the broken tip in the upper left corner of the pic on red. when I got home I took a cursory look through my parts jar from that spot and, low and behold! This is the first time that has ever happened in my 50+ years of artifact hunting!

The western US has some great raw material. Much of it is related to volcanism whereas in the east the raw material is more limestone related. Gary

Wow; that’s fantastic. My ground is frozen here in Massachusetts, although there is still several spots where it isn’t. You’re in Nevada, but letting the coil rest is a good thing sometimes!
