Decorative Whatsit From an Old Beach -SOLVED

Found this about a foot deep in the wet sand here in a secluded Southern California Beach. I've found Mercs and Buffs and a 1904 Indian Head penny here...and 3 types of Silver halves ... Kennedy. Franklin, and standing Liberty. Usually very few modern coinage.

This looks to be stainless steel with an inside diameter of 2.91 and outside diameter of 3.03. The inside (and outside) diameter is tapered.

I suspect some decorative use, possibly 50 to 60+ years old. I hope someone recognizes it.

I'm certain I've seen this before. My grandmother had a lot of old cosmetic - type jars. I almost sure she had one that had a lid or cover like this. If I remember correctly, it was old white glss, like that of a ponds jar but it was thinner so more translucent.

I think it is a incense burner or potpourri lid because it has open areas. The majority of Victorian vanity(ie. powder, cremes,etc) had solid tops as shown below. Also, most of the Victorian lids had threads for screwing it to the glass jar. Neat find, Breezie
