Deep Fried Pennies

If anybody is curious about what pennies look like after you throw them in a deep frier....here you go!

First answer: I have completely and totally lost my mind.

Second answer: Just a joke, I dug those out of the Gulf. Gave them an initial cleaning with Muriatic Acid to get the dead stuff off, then I soaked them in vinegar (a lesser acid) over night. That was the best I could clean them without dissolving them completely. Kinda thought they looked deep fried.

Sometimes I find pennies like that directly out of the deep , dark mud.

Try putting them on an outdoor grill next time

Not me. I really don't like finding them at all, but, I sure don't want to find the same one twice!

first thing I do when I finish detecting, when I'm sorting out my stuff, is throw all the zinc cents away. Copper cents I'll save and spend, but the zincs go in the trash.

I have been told that if you take toasted coins to a "federal reserve bank" they will give you clean cash for them. Now, 10 toasted pennies may not be worth worrying about, but I think I now have about 1000 of them in a container. The closest federal reserve bank is about 100 miles away so it will have to wait until a convenient time when I am in the same city. Local banks will likely not take them but will refer you to a federal reserve bank which is required by law to make good on their currency.
