Saint Augustine is the correct spelling. As far as laws I only know you cant hunt on land owned by the state like state parks.

Too bad you cant get permission to hunt some of those old haunted houses and properties. I think St Augustine is one of the places I truly would love to live. How about hunting around the fort! That would be a blast or some of those downtown Inns......Make sure you show us your finds!

The beach is a bit away from the historic district, the fort etc. is a park so thats a no go. There is alot of construction a couple blocks up ( parking garage ) with alot of torn up ground, boy was that hard to pass by. There's a very nice Treasure shop across from the Ripley's believe it or not, very nice people worth a stop. Wow thinking back why didn't I ask them their opinion about the parking garage area . ( make Homer noise now)

Doh! Get back to the construction site and ask.I'd be knocking on doors all over town.Private property is where you'll find the good stuff in that town.

St. Augustine is one of my all time favorite areas and I agree with another post, I would love to live there. The beach is great hunting, especially the lane. If you're going to work the water always check the life guard towers for their info boards. If the baitfish are running it can get a bit sharkey as all of the Atlantic beaches can in the Summer months.

That treasure shop is Treasure by Marc Anthony a friend of mine, it is a awesome shop. He is a collector,Salvager&Dealer

Recently a friend of mine, while visiting St Augustine with his wife, met a nice elderly lady who lives within blocks of the historic district. They noticed her doing yardwork and planting some new bushes and started talking.
The elderly lady mentioned some pottery shards she found while digging. My friend immediately offered to help and together they found quite a neat assortment of artifacts in her yard, just a foot under the surface, all without the use of a metal detector.
