Anything you find on the beach is yours to keep. Do not hunt on any beach that is considered National Seashore. Do not hunt in the water where the 1715 fleet went down. Most public beaches are fair game.

This may sound like dumb questions, but having never been to the Treasure Coast to hunt, I have to ask - Are the beaches there posted as to whether they are public or National seashore or is it just something you need to check up on for each different beach? Is detecting prohibited at certain hours of the day? Is there any agency that you are required to report to or get a permit/permission from before detecting?

Stay off all national seashores, federal land is protected and yes they are posted. Stay out of the water on the Treasure coast, roughly from just north of Sebastian Inlet to Ft Pierce. You can hunt Treasure coast from mean low tide line to toe of the dunes legally...
