AT Max won't be so good in the saltwater but will be fine on the dry sand. Fantastic lobster tacos at Quicks Hole restaurant in Woods Hole down by the ferry dock. Whyddah museum in Ptown is worth a visit to see real pirate treasure even if the finder is a scoundrel. Don't wear short shorts in Ptown though.

Actually the main Whydah museum is in Yarmouth now - they bought an old aquarium and converted
one of the archeologist there looked at a small cannon ball I found in the water and confirmed it most likely from a deck gun

Easy, any ploughed field that has history on it or nearby. Remember the best fields were always fields (not houses).
Cape does not have any large farm fields - the soil on the Cape is not exactly the greatest - very sandy in most spots
Only fields you will find are associated with historical houses or farm museums and they would be planted right now
and doubt they would let you hit them anyways - I have friends out there that have not been able to - also no cellar holes
either - if you do research you could do some woods walking and if you are good find where there were old dwellings
they built houses right on the ground - so finding square depressions is tough - usually that is easier to do in the winter
when there is snow and that can be dicey because land is marked in most places
A lot of the houses out there have markers on them - lot were owned by sea Capts.
The fools that do the show that do summersaults and climb trees when they make a find did a show out there got a few house permissions
I could add more to that too

Been done to death - not bad for fresh drops - locals hammer it in summer
it has been done by diving detectorist out deep too
parking can be tough

You might consider searching this area:

this spot gets pounded probably the most -its not as big as most spots - fresh drop beach
Ive been there with like 10 others showing up - remember I was out at my limits
yrs ago and others were watching me cause they were digging nothing in closer
and i was getting silver coins way down and pulled 3 old gold - i wear a mask & snorkel
no one else did so they could not get out as far as me - remember an old guy saw me digging and digging
and some kids asked what he had gotten and heard him say just a dime and heard him say "that guy out there
must be getting a lot ...he keeps on digging
myself and like 2 others are only ones that pull anything old from it - you got to go out as far as you can at low tide
and have to hunt all metal and real slow - old stuff is down 1 1/2 ft +
I know out real deep its a gold mine I believe - I get old gold and a silver
halfs down real deep but usually on my tip toes - one of my spots i need to hit with snuba or hookah
This is from the trip i got 3 gold there

All these postcards are over 50 years old (think silver, not clad). Here' s another site to consider:

that beach is also half the size now due to rising waters since then
high tide is real bad as far as trying to put a blanket down

I know like 3 guys that hunt that live within walking distance from there and they have friends
i have a "secret" tiny spot near there Ive gotten silver - but never got gold there
There is a ferry running out of there - tough to hit water - big drop off dug out for the ferry
it looks nothing like this now

Coming off the Cape you might stop here:
