Hi all!
I posted this in the prospecting forum, but got no response. I just bought a White's Prizm IV. Is it possible to find natural gold with this detector?

a decent coin machine will find a big slug sitting on or near the surface.reason is, places with natural gold are highly mineralised.gold specific machines are the best bet.you must walk miles, and dig from 30 to a hundred targets(all metal mode) for each nuggy.until you find your patch.want to spend less and walk right over the au with a coin specific detector? just getting the coil of a deadly gold machineover gold is a science unto itself.

Thanx for responding Patches!

Possible, but not overly practical. Gold specific machines will find smaller pieces, deeper, that the typical coin machine may not respond to, even close. Nearly any machine will respond to a nice sized nugget at several inches but still miss the majority of smaller pieces. Hope this is helpful.
