Since the river won't go down enough to get on the banks I decided to go and crawl through the weeds on the hillside I hunt just below a Ft Ancient site. I usually only do this in the winter when the weeds are down but I was desperate for a hunt and it paid off. I got ate up by skeeters, found a few ticks, and probably lost 5 lbs sweating, but I found 2 Bone Awls, a possible Bone Handle, two decent Points, some broken bases, a nice Shell Disc Bead, a Deer Toe Tinkler, and some Pottery. The Tinkler is a little deteriorated but still nice and the 2 Bone Awls are sweet. I thought one may have had a broken tip but after cleaning it up I could see polish all over the end so it is made that way.

I also got a 2'fer today. When I found the Trigger Bone Awl I bent down to get a picture and found the rounded base Point lying about a foot or so away. I like finding them like that. I didn't get a picture of the other Awl since the basal end was sticking out of the ground and I didn't know it was a Awl until I pulled it out. The third pic shows the Awl and the Point just to the right of it. First two things I found after about 15 minutes into the hunt. Great way to start!!

Here's some in situs, some clean up pics, and the total haul. I didn't get any videos since my batteries were low and I didn't want run them dead.

Looks like five pounds well spent! If you remember a month or so back, I posted a deer ulna. I wasn't sure if it was road kill or an artifact. I see why mine falls under road kill now. Wow! That thing is as sharp as a tack. Thanks for the post reap!

Yeah its raining with thunder again today or I would be out. Got some keepers and thanks for the post, rock

Yay that is the way to get them. I loaded up the kayak yesterday and got to the creek it was a churning muddy mess. Way to get after them!
