I picked up these while working in NC today. They were in a active logging operation. The large rock is worked and flaked nicely on one side, I am guessing a large preform or a quick made tool (soon to be a flower bed rock).

I tend to believe the large rocks like that are a tool for a specific use when they put edges or the bits or sides and ends. I do not think it was just stages of reduction.. Very nice example

Thanks, I was leaning more towards quick rough tool also.
