Went to buy a beer and saw a wallet in the road. I picked it it up and later went home. Identification gave a location and the wife and i went there. As we pulled up a young man was getting out of his car.Are you Antonio i asked. He said yes and i gave him his new Green Bay wallet. All the money is still in there do not worry. He wanted to give me $$$ but my wife said no. He told me his wife just bought him that G B packers wallet and i saved his butt. Its tough being honest.

It IS tough being honest.

In about 97 or 98, when I was a divorced, working Mom with a son, I drove down the Causeway Approach on a beautiful fall day. It was a Sunday and no one else was on the road.

I began to see bills wafting in the beautiful fall breeze and sun, on the side of the road. Mystified, I got out and began gathering them. Then I spotted a very fat, half open men's wallet in the middle of the road. I ran over and picked it up. Shaking, I drove the short way home where my 13 year old was.

I handed him the wallet and told him to count the money. It was 700.00 and some odd dollars. I told him to check for I.D.

It belonged to a man who I was friends with from our local health club. Of course we returned it, but that would have solved a lot of problems for Dustin and me.

Being honest solves more problems than being rich. But it's still hard to be honest in such a dishonest world.

Good for you aa. The road less traveled is the best road in the end.

Maybe tough being honest, but I'll bet you sleep better at night. I lost a wallet once, got a call back about it from a cab driver in Chicago but he said some sc*mbag took the money out and threw it on the floor. Lost a laptop too that could have easily been returned, but it was in Paris (figures!)

A few of us, when we were 10 or 11, enjoyed high sport tying a wallet to a fishing line, and laying it on the center line of our country road. While we hid in the bushes, the cars would stop, back up, the door would open and a hand would reach down for it just as we snatched it away. Very hilarious for us, not so much for the victim. One guy actually jumped out and chased us into the woods, yelling obscenities.

I returned a wallet I found at the beach this summer with $100 in it. Wasn’t that hard. I think MOST people are honest and want to do the right thing. That being said, there are the few knuckleheads who have no conscience

I remember i lost my wallet somebody dropped it in the mail box i got it back but the fifty dolla bill was gone. thats cool i was happy to get it back with all my other stuff in it

I have returned a few over the years while hunting the ravines and trails throughout the park systems while living in the city. Found one on a path, called up the guy and said I found his wallet and I would drop it off. Knocked on the door for the return he answered it took the wallet out of my hand-looked inside-looked at me-and slammed the door.
Found a purse and called the real estate agent-agreed to meet up at a coffee shop. She thanked me but looked really sheepish-blushed when I handed it to her-quick exit left. (I guess it was the multitude number of condoms in the purse bottom)
Still no matter what the returns always feel like the right thing to do-it brings closure to the person that lost it-as in the past I had a few returned to me.

Good Karma is headed your way. As a retired UPS Delivery driver, I found and returned many wallets and even 2 purses over my 27 years in the truck. It makes you feel good, if nothing else. Glad your one of the honest ones.

Good for you, you did the right thing. In my life I have returned 3 wallets, 1 checkbook, and 2 class rings that I have found. One of the wallets I found when I was a kid. It was empty of cash but did have ID in it. I was somewhere around 12 to 14 years old at the time and took it to our local police station. I handed it to the officer behind the desk who opened it and said 'let me guess, it was empty?' to which I said 'yes'. His reply was 'yeah, right'. Left me with a sour feeling after trying to do the right thing. I will never take another lost and found item to the cops
