last week I went to a different branch of my dump c.u. Just because it was on my way. the coin counter acted up (it did not like halves ) while the teller was working on it I asked if she had to change the 50 cent bag often, no almost never she replied, I could see it was almost 2/3 full. I asked if she would sell it to me she said yes, when it is full. well you guessed it, today I went back filled the bag and walked out with it. And yes i did have to re check my own dump but I got 8 40% I know that is not much compared to what a lot of you do regularly, but out here I have been getting 1 per box doing 1 box a week. My best box was 3 40%and 1 90%, fallowed by 2 skunks. So 8 in one day is a happy dance day. Also out of the bag was a 97s proof my first proof.

which brings me to my question what is a clad proof worth? are they 40%

thanks for your help and I enjoy all your post's papa

Clad proofs are worth .50 cents unless of course you can find someone who wants them, then the sky is the limit, well not really but you could make a little more on them; problem is I've never found anyone willing or wanting to buy them from me- have dumped at least 500 of them back into the wild myself. Oh tried Ebay and got not one single bid on them too so that convinced me to leave them alone.

I trade proofs to tellers I like, they are a special treat for them and saves on my candy bill. HH Mark

Good job on getting that bag.  Go for dime bags too if you can get them.

When I get proofs or S mints out of rolls that I search, I keep them for young coin collectors in my neighborhood. Helps them fill their books up. I also give the less perfect ones as tips. Waiters and waitresses love them.

bag consist of
$50 .00 pennies
$200.00 nickels
$1000.00 dimes
$1000.00 quarters
$1000.00 halves
$2000.00 dollars
at least that is the bag they are using our here in the west.

now if i could only get my bank to let me buy the money from their coin counter . . .
