Zebco made fishing reels in Tulsa, Ok and then closed down a few years ago and moved to Taiwan. No, I don't know where they moved to, or they may have even gone belly up? The did make war materials during WWII but I didn't know the name of the company. They made the Zebco 33 closed face spinning reel and initally at least made a fortune. Monty

No, it isn't a conspiracy theory. Way back when, they were facing expiring patents and shrinking demand for their time bombs. The bombs were used for fissuring drying up oil wells. They were looking for other business to get into when RD Hull came to them with a patent on his new backlash proof fishing reel.

I know at one time, Brunswick (of bowling and billiards fame) owned Zebco.

Yep, went to the Zebco factory more than once to trade in old reels for a discount on new ones. Or something like that. I was always happy with the Classic 1. Couldn't believe they went overseas.
