Diesel motors?

Anybody use one? I loved them on my dive compressors. Yanmar and Yanmar Chinese knockoff. Ran forever used half the fuel. Even had electric start and small alternator.

But what did it cost in comparison to a American diesel motor with a starter and a alt. ? The excise tax would be the killer! I have read posts on people that have used a diesel engines on their dredge or ? and they were happy with them BUT they are heavier and a more expensive fuel to carry ! HMMMMMMM ?

I burned half the fuel or less. Non ethanol gas was almost the same as diesel. Ethanol gas in salt water environment is a huge maintenance pita.

Two grand for Yanmar. $600 for Chinese knockoff.

Diesel worked better for me as it's near impossible to blow yourself up and they last near forever. Might be cheaper to replace a few Harbour freight gas motors in the long run tho.

I hate Japan and Honda more than I hate Chinese. Might have to with losing one great uncle in the South Pacific campaign.
I'm planning on buying somebody's old dredge and replace the motor, pump, compressor and hoses with new if needed.
House is just now on the market so I should have winter to suss it out.
