..........Good day in my part of Illinois, sunny and
temps in the 40’s- 50’s.
Getting lazy, got out around 8 and loaded up
the van for a walk in the woods.

Forest Preserve I went to has section devoted
to flying model airplanes. It’s a good place to
park. Hit the wood that surround it.

They even put in a landing strip.

Walk through the woods with the detector going,
check here, check there.

Bit easier navigating this time of year, plus the thorn
bushes have changed to a red and you can keep clear
of walking into a field of them.

Step around logs not over them; who here on TN just
broke a few ribs? Again around not over.

Lot of small streams in the area.

Always brings to mind some oriental poet who would write
his poems on a paper and let the stream take them away.
Try it next time your near a stream. ;)

Anyone else check the dirt on the down trees, never know
what you will find.

Came to an area of glass shards. Saw a lot of pieces of milk
bottles and said, “I have to get one”. Did not appear old, 40’s
50’s.

Only able to locate two bottles, about 15 inches
down and next to each other.

Sherm, a great day in my book. Maybe not a lot of finds, but time was very well spent amd beautifully illustrated. Thak you and HH!

Awesome post, looks like you had a nice adventure with a few interesting nice finds! I always check under those downed trees. My Bro in law once found a long gun under a downed tree in a park and didn't take it, I went to retreive it and someone had beaten me to it, I could see the nice outline of a rifle type gun in the roots. Nice Pepsi bottle...
Your car looks like mine...flag included... :D

Nice site Sher:

I went to my grandfathers old farm...Md
went off and I dug and dug.

It was a old wagon wheel but I could not
dig it up the roots of a old tree grew right over
it .The roots were large and the wheel was
under the roots.

I marked the spot and intend to go back when I
have the tools to cut the roots.

The wheel looked in good shape.
