dime box

Brinks dimes they blo-, get String/son, you should find at least one per box, order 10 boxes and get 10 silver dimes or better.

yea this was a brinks and they were clear wrappers, i just simply scrolled through them without busting open, its possible i may have missed one but im not busting those open then going to buy rollers and re-roll them all

I scored 1 1964 Rosie today out of my Brink box. That is all I find around here is Brinks boxes. At least I can score silver in dime boxes. I have had 16 halfs boxes and all where skunks.......Matt

You cant give up so quick. Do another 10 boxes, and see what happens. HH

I wouldn't guarantee that. My boxes are String/Son and I get 1 silver dime for about every 3.5 boxes.

to me its not worth it to order 10 dime boxes for 1 or 2 dimes, ive had super luck with halves so i figured i would just try a couple dime boxes and get skunked on. ive netted over $500 profit in a week over halves... :D

scored a 1948p silver dime from a brinks roll, that silver rim stood out as soon as I lifted the roll out of the box.

I've searched String dime boxes for 3 years straight and my average is one silver per $150, or about 1.5 per box.

You can reuse the wrappers if you don't cut them open.. Just squeeze the coins out instead of ripping the plastic. If I find a silver one (I haven't yet in these), I would replace it with a clad and then put them back in the wrapper and then dump the whole box at once.. There is no evidence that the roll has been tampered with when I do this. I assume this is the reason for these not producing much results. Most of them have probably been through this cycle that I describe atleast once before.

I agree with the 1 silver dime per $150 for the NF Strings. That's what I'm getting..

There were silver dimes made for circulation???

I've never found a dime CRHing, and am beginning to believe that the only dimes minted in silver were sold to coin shops, LOL.

Dimes minted before 1964 were made just as dimes are made for circulation today except that they were 90% silver. Back then, it cost less than 10 cents to produce a silver dime. After silver got higher and it cost more than 10 cents to make a dime, they switched to clad. Same thing happened with pennies. Before, the pennies were mostly copper, but bullion prices rose and they switched to zincolns. Silver dimes are hard to come by in circulation, out of 4 boxes I have only found 3. 2 of those dime boxes were skunks (50% skunk rate based on my experiance with dimes)

Really hope this helps out!!!

When you take into account, Gas To Dump, Time Spent Searching, Hassles of ordering and possible
fees. Is dimes really that good of an investment?

Serious question and have always wondered. I tried a box and gave up after five rolls, I had a headache the size of the Grand Tetons. :icon_scratch:

It all depends upon your goals. If you are in it for the $, yes, it's rediculous to search dimes for silver. If it's just a hobby, well, what's it cost to play a round of golf? Why have I spent over 2 grand in detecting equipment to dig a few coins or rings.....
