All of my half dollar veins are tapped out! I still pick up whatever loose and CWRs that I can find. I am finding 3-4 40%ers a month.

My new goal is 2-3 dime boxes a day, 6 days a week. Hopefully I will find 15-20 silver dimes a week.

So far:
Sunday
Box #1 - 2 FDRs
Box #2 - 3 FDRs
Monday
Box #1 skunk
Box #2 1 FDR
Tuesday
Box #1 4 FDRs and 1x1968 Canadian (50% Ag)
Box #2 1 FDR
Box #3 1 Merc (1944)
Wed
Box #1 skunk
Box #2 skunk
Thurs
Box #1 shunk
Box #2 2 FDRs
Box #3 shunk

Totals: 14 US silver dimes and one 50% Canadian dime

Wow, that's a huge Canadian nickel score!

Btw, whats special about the '70 Canadian coins? Are they low mintage?

1970 was a low mintage year for the Canadian nickel, dime and quarter but not the penny.

The mintage for 1970 nickel was 5.7 million and the second lowest QEII mintage (1st is 1955, 5.4 million).
I keep my 1965-81 nickels in bags as nickel bullion, but pull out the 1967s and 1970s.

The 1970 dime had a mintage of 5.2 million and is by far the lowest mintage nonsilver dime. It is the 2nd lowest mintage QEII dime (1st is 1954, 4.5 million)
It is the only nonsilver dime I keep, I have found 4 so far, all in Canada. This one is in the best condition.

The 2000-P (nickel plated steel) I found is also low mintage. Steel nickels weren't minted in high numbers until 2001. 1999P and 2000P were test coins for vending machines, parking meters and coin counters.

Congrats again on the great nickel score. And Im glad u told me about '99P and '00P Canadian nickels being low mintage - I'll make sure to keep any of those if I find any. I always keep any of the pre '82 Canadian nic's I find - which isn't too many (only found 2 so far this year) - but I sometimes spend the post '82's from time to time. So I'll watch for the '99's and '00's, but since they're low mintage I probably haven't/won't find any - but Im going to double check the dates of the ones I have.

Btw, I wonder how long it will be before the US Mint changes the composition of Jefferson nickels to steel. If and when they do, that would probably finally help the numis value of the pre-'60 nickels a little and make hoarding them more worthwhile. :)

Think how horrible it will be. The year they start doing that is probly the year they do it to the Quarter and dime, making us all be fooled by seeing white edges and forcing us to date check everything. I mean, I know it will be a few years before clad for god sakes starts becoming a lot less common in rolls, Its just that here and there we will start seeing the white edges only to find they are steel dimes. It saddens me. :(

Looks like another really good week of finds with the dimes and halves too. I've only managed to find 2 40% so far this week. But I have another half box to search tonight - sure hope I can find a little something in there, otherwise I will have skunked on all 5 of my half boxes this week.
