Hello Tnet, I always check the coinstar reject bin, but I've heard people talking about checking the 'dirt bin'. Can someone explain me what is the 'dirt bin' and how to get stuff from it? Does 'dirt bin' mean the same as the reject bin, just a different word for it?

Thanks

The dirt cup is inside and the public has no access to it. I saw one open and maintenance going on and asked questions. He showed me the dirt cup. It was clean.

As far as I know, there are no commercially available coin counters that allow public access to the “dirt cup”. I’ve been doing this, off and on, for over 30 years, and that is my experience.

While the public may not have access to it, if you are slick, you can GAIN access to it.

Both the "dirt cup" and the "dirt tray" are, indeed, behind the big locked door. That a store employee has a key to. Because sometimes they have to clear jams... or maybe you looked down through the holes in the dump chute and saw the golden earring you accidentally put into the machine when depositing your coins. Oh, and that Morgan in the cup was mine, too.
Google internals of a coinstar. There are a number of images out there that show all the chutes and trays and cups where things end up. Too big of coins usually go into the cup, I think, and little stuff ends up in the tray. Though I have seen regular sized coins in there before, so I have no idea how it works, really.
