I went to the bank after work today to pick up my second installment of half dollar boxes. I couldn't wait to get home with them but I had to avert disaster first. On the way out of the bank hauling two half boxes, I managed to make it to the truck with no issues. I opened the door and sat them on the back seat only to have one fall into the floorboard and burst open sending coin rolls rolling all over the parking lot. Luckily, none of the halves spilled from their rolls. I quickly scooped them ALL up and headed home.
I started with the box that had split open and by the time I was half through, I began to think I should have left them in the parking lot. Needless to say, I found no silver in that box but managed a 1973s proof.
I started the second box and on my second roll there was an edge indicative of silver. Sure enough, a 1964 Kennedy. All was not lost so I kept unwrapping and next found a 1981s proof in really great shape. A few rolls later, I was staring at another silver rim with the same pronounced reeding as the Kennedy so I had no reason not to assume it was another 1964. Boy was I surprised when I pulled out a nice Walking Liberty dated 1946. WOW! My first one ever CRH!
I was on cloud nine hoping to get a trifecta when I last pulled out a 1968d 40%er. (Still a trifecta, I guess, but not the one with Benjamin being involved!)
