this subject has been beat to death, some refuse to ask will go ahead and detect and dig till they either get confronted or bring it to someones attention, and some will ask. Bottom line is you do not own it, and someone is responsible for its care, so anyway you do it will eventually cause someone to set down rules about it. I would think you would be more likely to draw the ire of caretakers if you just went ahead and dug, so whatever is done will determine the future of MD ing

kyakpat, the only problem with what you're saying, is that the inference throughout it, is that:

" Md'ing = objectionable, harmful, and dis-liked by passerbys".

If that implicit premise is true, then everything else you're saying logically follows. But since when is that premise implicitly true ?
