Found this a while back, never has seemed to fit anything that appears in my general area, se Kansas, there are some from Texas that look similar. Am I missing an obvious point type or has this found its way here from another part of the country
I haven’t seen a jug hill with such a deep base but I do have a bunch of jug hill
Edit: I had to go help someone and kind of had an incomplete thought.
I have found lots of jug hill points so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was one that maybe varies fairly far from normal. I’ve been reading a book on the on archeology in the region and the author believes there really aren’t defined point types just arbitrary spots on a spectrum that we choose to identify.
Gonna revive this one because I had a new thought while doing some research. I was thinking closest thing was a Starr from Texas somehow but looking at the flaking today made me wonder if it’s actually a paleo, or a Cody complex with that flaking. Or possibly a dalton drill? Any thoughts? Still not sold on jughill with as deeply concave the base is
I hear ya on that and I definitely value opinions of members like that but I just can’t get there.
the closest one to that level of concavity is bottom left and it’s been damaged on the base making it look deeper than it is. It was likely shaped more like the pink one right next to the point in question, also all the jug hills I find are extremely flat and don’t show a ridge like the white one which is more oval cross sectioned. It’s also the only one where the sides are concave. That’s why I’m thinking maybe it’s what’s left a drill
