Distinctive Unit Insignia of the 293d Infantry Batallion

Greetings All,

It's been so lousy, stinking HOT here for the past 1 1/2 months that I haven't been out mding much. I decided to go out early in the day to try and beat the heat and was rewarded with a neat find. In addition to a '41 Wheatie, I found this screwback DUI. I believe it to be WW2 vintage.
On the back it is marked -
N.S. Meyer, Inc
New York
Made in USA
The hallmark to the left is a shield with "22" over an "M" and the hallmark on the right is the Meyer Shield.

This is a DUI, Distinctive Unit Insignia on the 0293 Infantry Battallion. Not much info on the individual unit. These are made for the army, and there are thousands of different DUI's. I know of one or two guys that have these and this is all they collect.

They were reactivated in 1947 in Indiana and Currently serve there in the 76th IN BDE. The style of DUI is the same as is currently in use, and looks as good as some in my spares acouterments box.
