The Garrett will be useless in Culpepper. The Nox will do OK. A lot of guys hunt there with the big, deep Minelab PI machines, the soil there is very hot and you need PI or multi frequency machines to punch through it.

DIV is a lot of fun but that is some tough ground. As previously noted the Max won't cut it, you may have some luck with the NOX in the woods where the mineralization isn't as bad. But you will really work for anything you do find. If you do sign up, you can get on the DIV Forum and inquire about renting a PI machine. Normally a lot of the guys have back up machines that they rent out at reasonable prices.

A friend of mine hunts DIV every year, he has found some really good stuff there. He uses a Minelab GPX 5000, a very expensive machine but what a lot of DIV hunters use. Go, it will be a great adventure, and you may get lucky with your Nox. Not all the goodies are found with $5,000 detectors.
