Detector(s) used
Laser Trident II (Vaquero), Lobo Supertraq, Compadre
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
I used to own a Teknetics T2 and enjoyed it but I eventually saw the light and became a huge Tesoro fan. I’m in the UK and currently own a Laser Trident II (UK Vaquero), a Lobo Supertraq and a Compadre.

My dilemma is - the Bandido has caught my eye, I‘ve seen a few people talking fondly about them and that has sparked something in me.

I see there are a few different editions:

1990 Bandido
1993 Bandido II
1996 uMax Bandito
1997 Bandido II uMax

The first two editions seem to get talked about more favourably but that’s as far as my knowledge goes.

I have two questions...

1. Which of the four editions should I be looking in to tracking down.

2. Will a Bandido bring anything to the table that my current Tesoro’s don’t?

Cheers!

If you have a Vaquero and Lobo, then it probably would not give you an advantage. But its always getting a new machine. At least most of the times.

Supposedly, the early Bandidos work well but I’ve never had one to try. I have used the Bandido II MicroMAX Tesoros and love ‘em. The only thing the Bandido II MicroMAX really does better than the Vaquero though, is pick things out of trashy areas - and I prefer the Bandido’s tone. The Vaquero is really an excellent Tesoro.

There is a formula for how many Tesoros a person needs. It is n+1 with n=how many you have now. The formula also works for many other situations but, according to my wife, it is not universally accepted.

Did you ever buy another Tesoro, OP?

Taking my Eldorado out today... Haven’t used this one for a while. It’s very similar to a Vaquero; the Vaquero actually replaced Eldorado in Tesoro’s lineup when it came out.

This line of replies has me itching to get my Cibola dusted off, and swingin' again!!
What a great machine - was my first and favored detector - Love it!
Yes, I'd buy another Tesoro, if they were available....

I'd pay $300+ for a Golden uMax if I could ever stumble across one.

Same here with the Cibola. I've not been able to hunt much lately, but getting her ready tonight and going out for night hunting. I only supertune her on rare occasions because I'd need a backhoe to dig that deep.

I must note that I had been using the Simplex a lot due to learning the thing...!

Never have too many Tesoros lol.
Good addition to your collection would be the Tejon, the one machine I always go back to.
