...savor that moment when you open a roll and see a silver rim? Silver is not ultra common in my AO (average 2/box of halves) so maybe its just me lol. This week is turning out OK, par for the course here. I have 6 more boxes to pick up tomorrow

Me to, every time I see that silver rim I crack a grin. Especially when I can tell it's a solid rim and not silver clad. Never know if it's going to be a WLH, Franklin, or a 64. Love that feeling!

My boy and I have worked out what we exclaim when we find something after we've pulled out the silver rim.

"Bing!" for 40% silver (though perhaps a bit louder for 1970!)
"Bingo!" for 90% silver JFK or Franklin
We haven't gotten a Walker or Barber frequently enough to really have a specific exclamation for those!

Thats exactly what I do as well. Actually, I always show her the entire haul from a group of boxes. She humors me.

I have a "special party" when I see that beautiful shine of a silver edge staring back at me just waiting for me to rescue her and give her the love and attention she deserves. My ritual goes something like this.... Open roll: if one silver edge, I savor it for a sec, pull her out, tell her I love her, and that I am glad I found her, give her a kiss, set her aside and move on.... If I open the roll and find 2 silver edges, I do all steps for 1 roll mentioned above, and then I sing my home-made silver love song. If I open a roll with 3+ in it (which happened yesterday. Brinks box, 5 rolls left, so far skunk, and BAM... 3 silvers in the roll. No other silvers in box-crazy) So with 3+ I enjoy step 1, step 2, and in conjunction with step 2, I have also made my own Silver Happy Dance, to go along with my silver love song.....

I have issues for sure.....

Thats funny so Im not the only one who gets similar disinterest in finds from wifes? When I show the lady of the house my finds she says the same thing barely looking up from the TV or my favorite line " so how much gas did you waste to find this? "

LOL.. yeah most women I think just aren't into collecting. They might collect cats or animals but not much else really. Well, one thing they do like to collect is emotions. LOL

Sounds like alot of our very understanding and awesome wifes feel the same way about our craziness.... I used to show my wife the good finds, but I finally got over it after I realized that she doesnt care. When she finally got to the point where she no longer pretended to care, I got creative and decided to get our 2 yr old involved.... Now I get him all excited about it, and tell him to "go show mom".... That way she still has to pretend to care... its fun for now.

I have been getting a lot of silver painted halves lately. I hate to disappoint the sad soul who does that, but I edge search under mild magnification and the painted ones don't fool me.

I was going through a roll ,the otheerm week when a solid silver rim shown through. I look at the date and it was a 1971. I looked closer and someone has plated the coin in zinc. Someone before me must have been searching, because there was a gash on the rim in which the copper clad showed through. What a downer.

The gold rims still get me. I get the rush then my brain chimes in, "dummy, there aint no gold halves!" Then I found a gold plated 64.

Funny! My kids and i share our findings with exclamations as well:
War nickels = let's go to warrrrrrrrr!!
Canadian (any denomination) = Oh Canada!
Buffalo nickels = Katonka!
Wheat pennies = Breakfast of Champions!
Silver dimes =. I'll be dimed!
40% halves = I know Jack!
Walkers (only a few)= Texas Ranger!
Franklins = Big Ben!!

We have a ton of fun, even as Mama rolls her eyes at us. Btw, we went to war 6 times today, saluted a dozen canadiens, and saved 46 pre-60 nickels over 3 Brinks boxes.
