Does anyone else's machine pick up their non-attached pinpointer???

The strangest thing has been happening recently. Doesn't happen all the time, but, rather off and on. I use the Garrett Propointer (which I LOVE by the way). When putting the pinpointer in the holes recently, my Safari is picking up the pulse of the Garrett while it's searching for the target. I can clearly hear the exact tone the pinpointer makes on my Safari through the headphones.

I even tried scooting the Safari over a bit more thinking I was too close to it, but, no dice. Not sure if it has anything to do with what mode I am hunting in, as I sometimes run in auto sensitivity and sometimes manual, but, I'll have to look out for that next time.

Has this happened or been happening to anyone else?

Yes, on both my Etrac and MXT. When I use my pinpointer, it will sound off and have had the pinpointer act on it as well. usually arms length away helps or cures the problem. After a few times you learn to work with it. :coffee2:

I just bought a safari a couple of weeks ago and I also use the Garrett pro-pointer. I noticed my safari would pick up the pinpointer as well. This is the first md I ever used so I wasnt sure if it was the safari or me.

Yup, my Ace 250 chatters when Vibraprobe pinpointer is operating, within 10"-15" of each other. Have gotten to where I automatically set the 250 aside far enough so interference doesn't happen. Not really a problem, but if the pinpointer signal would travel farther than mine does, yes, it would be annoying.

You guys are spoiled with those electronic pinpointers. Learn to turn one or the other off or move the detector farther away. Used to be ya couldn't hunt the same beach when a guy was using a PI within 30 ft. of you.

yep my bounty hunter pinpointer bangs ito my xlt alot just move detectors or use the signal lol

Re: Does anyone else's machine pick up their non-attached pinpointer???

all it means is that the pin-pointer is the same of one of the same 28 frequency as the safari as long as it is not falsing

Switch on detector and set as required.
Switch on pinpointer and place on the ground.
Hit "noise cancel" and hold 12" above and to one side.
When complete detector should be set on a different channel to your pinpointer.

Works on my Etrac..dunno about anything else lol. :dontknow:

I always just made sure my coil is facing away from me and it does help to cut down on the interference, Tim

Hi, I ran into this problem with my Explorer SE and my Garrett pro pointer "talking" to each other. all you have to do is hold the pro pointer in one hand and the detector in the other, hit the noise cancel button and then turn on the pro pointer and leave the pro pointer on until the minelab finishes noise canceling. the Detector will pick a channel that will not interfere with the each other. I do this all the time and it works perfect everytime!

My explorer II picks up the automax pinpointer from time to time. I haven't seen it as a negative. In fact, I noticed that it, at times, extends the 1" range of my pinpointer, meaning, I will hear a sound in my headphones when the pinpointer is near the target, yet the pinpointer is out of range. I thought it was kinda cool!

Re: Does anyone else's machine pick up their non-attached pinpointer???

I had a pocket UniProbe that would fire up my detector (EXP II) from over 6 feet away. Was really annoying. When I detect with my club, there is an gentleman with an old Tesoro who lights me up and visa versa about 20 feet away. We usually agree to head of in opposite directions. I have kept my first detector a Whites IDX Pro because it has a variable frequency, which is great for seeded hunts.

My DFX will go nuts if i have my pinpointer to close to the coil it picks up the 9 volt battery about 2 feet away helps ,once i forgot to take my wrist watch off and every time i waved a hand full of dirt past my coil my DFX sounded off i spent 15 minutes looking for a target until i realized it my watch :laughing7: duh ! I never did get used to that issue.
As a matter of act I switched to the in line probe and haven't looked back.
You can't leave these inline's laying in the woods either. :D

You also can't get them to fit your tesoro machine...
