Does anyone ever use the non-motion modes on Impact (or any detector) and why?

I have never used the non-motion mode on any of my detectors and I wondered if any of you ever have either? And if so why would we want to use that mode? What is it good for? Enlighten me if you would be so kind. Thanks

Good for getting a bead on the actual size of strong target, precise pinpointing, or trying to find a large, deep cache.

Crank the gain down and use it a surface scanner to pick up easy coins. Works great!
