Modern fasion button. Next time post pic of back and include size of object. Only way to get a positive ID.

Helpful. Anyway, as you seem to know its a modern fashion button, could you please tell me more as the one I found is in poor condition and I identified it by stumbling upon the above picture.

I agree just a modern fashion button. The button can be dated by it backside.

I havent searched this particular button but I can tell you that fashion buttons do not necessarily mean anything.

Thanks, I'm new to all this. What does "modern" mean in button terms? Also what sort of item wold carry this emblem? My research makes it look like a replica of a Czech coin (Louis first time possibly)

Here is picture of a wool blazer with these buttons. Vintage 50s WASHINGTON Jacket MILITARY WOOL Blazer 4 (07/12/2010)... Its not military but its possible to be 1950s era. I wouldnt spend to much time trying to decipher any meaning from REXBO * LVDOWICVS *PRIMO:GRACIA because its most likely meaningless. A fashion button of these types would have no monetary or historical value. Maybe 25-50 cents if you could find someone that wants one. Sorry.

Thanks, I think it's Czech. Not fussy about monetary value, was just intrigued to find out what it was!

No historic or collector value either. Modern fashion buttons get no respect. :laughing7:

Fashion blazer buttons often take old mottos or parts of them combining with rampant lions, unicorns, crowns, heraldic crests, shields and the like but in reality are meaningless..

bch is correct. once you start digging more of these you will be able (most of the time) to tell if its fashion or not. But dont throw it away at first!! post it here to be properly identified. Ive learned double on relics in the year ive been on here from these knowledgable hunters and it has really helped me in the field! So stick with it and stick with TN! gl.

Sorry I missed this post.

Modern means sometime in the 20th century. Fashion buttons are often designed from actual coins. Without seeing a pic of the back, Im going guess that the OPs button is 1950s at best and it could still be made today and actually may be made out of cheap pot metal.

Fianl answer

I stumbled upon this today searching for info on an identical button. I found the answer on wikipedia at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_II_of_Hungary

To summarise: they are copies of the first Thaler issued by Louis II of Bohemia and he reigned 1516 to 1526. They are, as previously identified, fashion buttons, probably mid-20th century. The ones I saw I think were pewter.

This is my first post on TreasureNet - I hope I can help more in the future. I am not a detectorist but a coin collector specialising in British coins of all ages.
