If you go to reply #241 and 242 this is what is said: "I suspect this was answered somewhere in this thread. I found a great seal button with no back mark. What does this mean?"
"Sorry I had no time lately to reply. It means we will have a hard time dating it lol. It may be military issue or it may be not."

I have quite a few blank Great Seal buttons. I would imagine they could range throughout the entire century. You may be able to date it by the rim or lack of a rim.

I remember identifying one particular company that used no backmark that Hut referred to but I think this was done by more than one company.
