Does this type of question serve any purpose

I've noticed a number of questions that seem to be just for the purpose of adding to the member posted count. So my question is this do metal detectors work better in space.

I'm not sure you'd need to have the box strengthened since it isn't air-proof. The pressure would equalize itself. It may be a different story if the machine had an LCD display.
