I collect antique maps and books.

this one came up for auction.

"Travels through North & South Carolina, Georgia, east & west Florida, the Cherokee country, the extensive territories of the Muscogulges or Creek Confederacy, and the country of the Chactaws : containing an account of the soil and natural productions of those regions, together with observations on the manners of the Indians : embellished with copper-plates"

Yeah, that is the title of the book.

Published, 1791
Has a map in the book, showing East Coast of Florida near New Smyrna
Two wrecks offshore.
Can't touch them or even metal detect the beach.

Is the beach at canaveral protected because of the space shuttle area or the shipwrecks?

They basically closed down everything around Canaveral since the 60's. There is even a small town, near the north end they bought everything, moved everyone out. Just south of Oak Hill.
That area, south side of mosquito inlet, has a lot of history but it's all owned by the government now. No metal detecting. And no diving around Canaveral from what I'm told.

I believe one of the 1715 fleet ships, the one that has been found, "Can't remember the name", is on the south side of Canaveral. There is an old navy survey I came across years ago that list it with question marks next to the name.

I think there is other stuff in the area, just guessing, but stuff the government does want people to know it's there.

I’ve read that the ground around Canaveral is loaded up with rattlesnakes. A closed off area where they’re never disturbed. There are probably some big ones in there!

I haven't heard that about rattlesnakes.
But there is defiantly some very big gators there.
The biggest gator I've seen was there near some old Indian mounds on the north side.

We can get into a lot of areas there. The even have camping on some of the islands.
It's a park.

There is fences to stop you where they don't want you to go.
