Dog tax pendants

Here in the Netherlands
in the 19th century until the early 20th century, everyone with a dog had to pay taxes.The dog then got a pendants at his collar. each place had its own kind of picture, with or without coat of arms, and a number. of course those were ever lost or thrown away with waste. and we'll find that with a detector.

here 4 dogs tax pendants 1st Amsterdam 1906, (2)Wildevank 1934 (3)Amsterdam 1886 (4) Emmen my hometown 1914/15.I hope you understand, because my English is not so good .

We, too, have dog tags, but I think the idea behind our tags was not necessarily the payment of taxes but also notification that the dog had been immunized against certain diseases. Great collection you have there !!

yes Nice collection !

We have both here Dog Tax in the late 1800's & Early 1900's & Now we have Dog Licences
because people hated to have to pay Taxes on their dogs but will pay for a license

We also have Rabies Tags these days that must accompany licenses,
and the Tax is added but Silent
