Found a square chainlink one time under a cliff with the side cutout and had two corroded balls on the ends of the cutout, past a old oil well pipe sticking out of the ground and did like most guys, i dropped the old link in, listening to it fall out of hearing, it never registered on my little brain, later in the year i watched a Mountain man show on the History channel, and that guy was starting a fire with my old chainlink. i yelled out dumb, dumb ,dumb,. did you know Danial Boone was in my area a lot. could it have been .stupid stupid.

I guess the morel of my story is dont cull nothen ,

That's right. An old time detectorist told me when I started not to throw anything away unless I was absolutely sure what it was. That advice has paid off.

You would think a rugged outdoorsey type of a sawmill/logger like you, would like all kinds of crusty, rusty iron and not tose it. Shame, shame on you.

Yea you guys are right, i was arrowhead digging that day , must have been having a bad case of the brain farts ,never realizing i had a flint striker in my hand. probably will never find another one, but i will always know where one is at.
