Found at homesite beside mill site. I think it's brass. The lid screws off and the item can sit upright on a table. It's somewhat decorative with some curvy lines showing up after cleaning . Maybe early sample perfume bottle?

Yeah I've looked at perfume bottles, snuff bottles for a chain . I'm not sure and it drives me crazy!

My next guess would have been- part of a spark plug primer cup.
