"Don't bother..... I got it all !! "

Last week I took my White's M6 and 6X10 coil to a school yard to hunt.
As I was going in, another guy was coming out. He didn't say "Hi".. "Finding anything?" or any such pleasantries like that.
He said "Don't bother... I got it all !! "

Well we talked for 10 minutes and he told me he had been hunting the schoolyard for 4 years and the only things left, were whatever the kids dropped during the week. I asked him if he minded that I dig up the trash he left. He told me go ahead and he left.
Within an hour and a half I had over 20 clad coins.
This week I went back to see what else I could find, taking my M6 and 6X10 coil again.

I found a nice promising looking spot and started scanning. Within a few minutes the solid targets were coming in pretty good.
All clad but they were 2, 3 and 4 inches deep and had been there a few years.

In between digging up clad, I get a 50 cent signal at 3 inches. Thinking it might be a junk item I raise the coil about 3 inches and scan again. Still reading 50 cents and at a 6 inch depth. A junk item would read them same depth so I dig it.

My first JFK half in years !!!!

Digging up more clad dimes, pennies and quarters.... in between these I dug up a sweet 1961 "New" Roosy dime, a 1953 Roosy, a 1939 Merc and one that I almost had to go change my drawers on. A 1911 Barber dime at 6 inches. :icon_sunny:

After a couple of hours I dug 35 coins.... 4 of which were silver!!!!

So when someone tells you an area is hunted out, just ask if you can go dig up the "trash" they left !! :tongue3:

I bet you can't wait to talk to him again

Reminds me of the time that Skinny Puppy and I were driving to a place when I eyed a nice old house.
Made a U TURN a couple blocks up and drove back to talk with the guy on the porch.
He said have at it, but a guy was here during the summer.
It turned out to produce 23 Silver coins for me and 8 for Skinny Puppy along with a handful of wheats...

YOU "ROCK" DUDE............

I've made the mistake B4 telling my MD group that I've already searched that area & when we went there I had to eat my words as I FOUND a Platium over GOLD ring & a Sterling pendant. Boy did I feel "Stupid"

Dime,
That's got to be the best looking "trash" I've ever seen. Too bad he wasn't there to see who was boss. ;D

Nice testimony, sweet scores. Full liberty on the dime. Bet there's even MORE there. Great job again against the competition, good luck and HH!

i wonder what type of detector he was using

Re: "Don't bother..... I got it all !! "

I found a nice gold ring about 10 minutes after a guy told me that one day. He might have been thinking he would get you to go somewhere else too. It might have been his favorite spot.

We have a old man here in my town thats says that all the time..He has a old detector with 1 knob and tells us ive been here allday and picked it out.. I think he picks all the big targets,we go back and get the small ones ..halfdimes,coins and things..Its hard to find every thing on the land ..Go back and i bet you find some more nice silver ..Great finds

No but I was being polite because he was hunting there before I got there.

Re: "Don't bother..... I got it all !! "

Very few of the larger sites that I've hunted would I ever say were "hunted out"...only those that I gridded several times.

If it was a yard, he might've been correct--but perhaps he just wanted to keep you off "his" spot. ::)

Glad ya didn't listen.

;D
