Don't find much on experimental hunts

I've been playing around with my ATP to see if my hearing would allow hearing the deeper
signals around the trash. Last time out seemed to work ok but this time I wanted an acid test.
So, I went to a notoriously hunted park. Where I KNOW as much as three generations of detectorists have been hitting
it over the years. Still some very high trash areas but, I had a feeling.

Anyway, no, I didn't find any mother-lode. But, enough to tell me that this technique is working. :)

Thought I had something here but it's just a flattened zincoln. :)

Another one for the collection.

A half dozen whole wheat toasts! Not in much shape. BUT!
How many people out there can say they found 6 wheat cents today? ;)

I only stayed for a bit because it is tiring trying to hear good stuff in and around
all that trash! But, as I got ready to go i said, "OK, I'm ready to go now. How about an exit find?"

The very next hit?

Pretty neat, even if I do say so myself. LOL

Thanks for peeking!

Hey 6 wheats in a hunted out area shows your technique is actually working! Good job!

Now if I can get over my diggers ADHD I might actually try that myself:laughing7:

6 wheats says a good hunt to me. I think 4 is my best. Who says you can't teach an old dog new.......errr I mean Wtg!

any details on the technique your trying out?

Wheats with an Angel to send you home. That's a nice hunt.

Actually, there's really not much to tell. Or at least that I can explain. But, what I'm doing is to listen in those very noisy areas for a sort of, (gee! I don't know what to call it! :dontknow: ), sort of a side bounce. Kind of like the AT is trying to tell me that there's more there than the obvious trash noise. That there's two signals in one. I can't really pinpoint the target more than the cross swing because there's more than one signal. So, when I dig, I am looking for more than one target in or near to the same hole.

One thing I've noticed is that the ATP is VERY quick on it's recovery between signals. My hearing is a little less than perfect so I have to pay real close attention. Many, many times I've noticed other metals in the holes I was digging on good targets. I kind of figured that a lot of people hear that first obvious trash signal and keep moving.

Of course, most people don't have the time I do to just hunt when I want so it's understandable that they want to be as efficient as they can and "ONLY" dig the good stuff. ;) LOL but, that's ok. Leaves more for me! I feel I can go just about anywhere and expect to find at least something fair. Makes all those hunted out places brand new again. ;)

Hope that helps.

Hey! Watch that, respect your elders! LOL

Neat thing is that each of those wheaties? Came from 7 to 9 inches deep!! Pretty neat!

Thanks!

Nice finds. Six wheats is a great amount for one hunt. The best I ever did was about eight back in 2010...but have not pulled near that many in one hunt since. For me it's one or two IF any.

I meant to ask you, what coil and settings are you using? How do you prefer to ground balance? I am thinking on getting the 5X8 for my AT soon.

I'm using Pro/all metal/full sensitivity zero iron elim and the iron audio on. The stock coil too. But, I can see where the 5x8 would make it easier to separate some targets. Although, I don't think it would help much for the type of targets I'm finding. Most of these are separated vertically, mostly.

The best way to see what's under your coil is to dig. :dontknow:

Trouble is, if I tried to dig every signal I get, I would be basically plowing the field. LOL

Hope that helps.
