Don't Listen to the "Ney Sayers"

Technically, these are finds from this weekend but I didn’t have time to post. I found the Confederate Reunion Medal at a sight that I was assured had been picked over. Same with the Mercury dime. There’s still great stuff to be found in the obvious places. Don’t give up… just be creative.

Congrats on your finds, they are very nice.

Re: Don't Listen to the "Ney Sayers"

Great finds and I agree, don't listen to the nay sayers. Someone told me that the upper crust of the Earth has a way of recycling itself and things lost deep eventually get pushed back to the surface. Ever notice when you clean a location for planting of large rocks that it always seems a new batch of large rocks resurface and then you have to clear them again. What goes around comes around.

:o :oPalmettoDigger, I would have DIED and gone to HEAVEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is SUCH a wonderful find you have no idea....I am a member, a direct descendant if you will of that organization, in the SCV (Sons of Confederate Veterans). So the UCV metal holds a "Special" place in my heart!!! ;) ;) ;) ;) Great find bud, way to pull out a jewel from "worked" :D :D ground.

Welcome from the UK.

Most of my fav fields have been done for 30 years & they tell me not to bother. I always bother. ;D

Nice finds and that's especially true when using different settings, machines and techniques.

HH and thanks for sharing.

Re: Don't Listen to the "Ney Sayers"

Thanks for all the encouragement guys! I actually just resumed my detecting career a few months ago. I started about 25 years ago (I was in 6th or 7th grade) when I had the attention span of a gnat. I hit it pretty hard in college for a while and then life got in the way. I’m 38 now and married to a historian who specializes in Southern History. It took me a year to realize I could use her knowledge and research skills for my own selfish gain. Sooo now I’m back with a nifty little Garrett GTAx550 that I love. The only problem is that I’m spending all of my work hours day dreaming about my next hunts. I’m sure I’ll get fired soon.

I’m in Columbia, SC and will travel so anybody interested in getting together let me know. I’ve already been in touch with Ian aka researchandrecovery about an idea that I had that I think a lot of you will be interested in. I’ll share more when we develop the plan.

Re: Don't Listen to the "Ney Sayers"

nice finds...hey I never really find anything great...but anyone who thinks they get everything is wrong...I am sure most of us have gone over a spot no signal maybe swept over it again in another direction and bam... :)
