You need a hand held pinpointer for roots really, and a good tool to cut through them.

I read somewhere that certain ones do mess with the detector. I have never noticed with my XLT.. Cooter

Welcome to TNet and go ahead and change the batteries....It seems to like half or better...Never had roots give me false readings unless there was a piece of iron embedded in the root...Just a pain to dig around..HH
