Dowsing rod frame

A pendulum can be hung from a small tripod such that the string/chain can still be held. The obvious result which will be, it doesn't move on its own.

Most everyone is already well-aware that dowsing devices aren't autonomous. An L-rod won't swivel all by itself, a pendulum won't swing all by itself, a bobber won't bob all by itself, a fork branch won't unload unless it's first loaded with torque. All these devices move under the influence of the holder. The far more interesting question is, is something influencing the holder?

One thing I have noticed when working with some dowsers is they have experienced a build of static electricity. They tend to shuffle more when dowsing and it seems to build up. But whether it could be enough to cause muscle contraction or even enough discomfort to create minor movement is beyond my ability to test.

I meant it as a joke--clamp the pendulum in the frame so it won't give false responses.

The whole frame thing just shows most people do not understand. One guy was actually selling a clear plastic frame like Carl made. Didn't have a clue, probably still doesn't.

Part of learning the rods is to be able to sense the subtle energies. As i have said you ALLOW the rods to align with the lines of force. Also I have said some people need a cattle prod to discharge when they get a response because they aren't sensitive enough to the subtle energies.

So to come back full circle, the rod response DOES NOT mean there is a target there. Maybe, hopefully, but odds say not. This is why i say anybody can get a response and put a mark on a map. There's different reasons why the rod responds and unfortunately, a good target is not anywhere near the top of the list. Anyone who tries to tell you differently, beware.

Perhaps dowsing, when it works, does work in much the same way.
I don't have a dog in the hunt. What I would like to see is proof.
If there is something to dowsing, perhaps this is the time when dowsers see through the glass darkly.

I've never said dowsing doesn't work. I've never said map "dowsing" doesn't work. But the ignorants and deceivers want you to believe it is all cut and dried. If that was so there would be a lot of treasures found by dowsing. You'd think maybe every ten years SOMEBODY would trip over something and claim it was dowsing.

Yes a 100 percent right on that................ gold has 11 rings that stronger than the target it self, after 45 years of this you do need to study your rod are pendulum between a negative and positive signal. but that just part, there a lot more a person will pick up,the best way to learn, is dowse a map go there to locate , dig it up then do a lots of testing on that spot and see why you did no find treasure, don't move on tell you know, this is the best way to learn what going on, are you be hitting trash all the time....... (except for raw gold) anyone can dowse, no rings to mess with.

yes...You have to learn what the rods are telling you

When Carl posted his device, that was supposed to alleviate and correct for the ideomotor (tilt/gravity) effect, I just knew there was a reason why this was not conclusive. Sorry Carl. Your device shows nothing .

..... What I would like to see is proof....

Two things:

A) No one has to "prove" anything.

B) But sure: There's been "proofs" here quite frequently. Persons have shown coins, an AA battery, various metal items, and .... sometimes even some valuable goodies. How is that not the proof you ask for ?

Interesting article, thanks.

As I've said before, proofs are for mathematicians & distillers. Science doesn't deal in proof, just evidence & theories. Nothing is ever proven.

The article talks about ideomotor action as being responsible for the movement of the planchett. Ideomotor is purely subconscious and when it kicks in, it is truly a bizarre feeling. This is the same thing dowsers feel get when they get a "hit" with dowsing rods. It's a tugging sensation as if the rods are moving on their own.

The purpose of the frame and the counter-balance is to eliminate the possibility that the user is causing the rod(s) to move, even subconsciously. And they do that, resulting in a complete lack of response. That is, the rod(s) go dead. In science, that's called evidence, and points to the extreme likelihood that dowsing responses are self-inflicted. But that doesn't address what might trigger the ideomotor effect. Other tests would have to be designed to do that.

They do move, I have located hundreds of power lines, water lines, cable lines, fiber optic lines, pvc pipes that have never had anything in them hundreds of times.

As in reflexive responses to pain, the body sometimes reacts reflexively with an ideomotor effect to ideas alone without the person consciously deciding to take action. The effects of automatic writing, dowsing, facilitated communication, and Ouija boards have been attributed to the phenomenon.

I Would also add driving a car. Pulling your hand away from a hot stove etc. or hundreds of everyday task...Art

Which is all exactly why Carl's device won't work. Tsk tsk.

Pulling your hand from a hot stove is a reflex action, not ideomotor.

Driving a car, riding a bike, handwriting, etc are repetitive motor skills, not ideomotor. You have to learn those skills.

Anyone else want to try?

You have a good point. No one has to prove a thing. For that matter, we see proof of md working posted several times a day here and do not question. A photo is not proof. I have old coins- would be child's play to stage a find and post photos.
I actually intend to try dowsing this year.
The thing is there are so few pics from dowsers. Very few dowsers so that is understandable. Lack of dowsers maybe due to it seeming akin to using a Ouija board or consulting a fortunr teller.
The article I linked seems to indicate we are smarter than we think, according to scientific studies.
Why do you think dowsing works?

I'm not trying. This is just interesting to me. Just for the sake of discussion, why do you think dowsing cannot work? Simply stated.
I'm not a dowser, by the way.
