This morning, I found this old chest / trunk and dragged it home. Cleaned it up. :icon_thumleft:
I was hoping to find some old doubloons but no luck there. :icon_jokercolor:

Looks like it was used to transport bottles because of the circular stains on the inside bottom.

Approximately, 20.5"W x 14"H; Weight: 14lbs,

Made of a reddish color wood (rosewood?) and metal. The outside of the barrel / hump top is made of all metal. It looks like there were some wood slots separating the bottles but they are missing.
All hardware is brass but I wonder if the trim is copper. :icon_scratch:
Wood on front and sides are carved -- but the backside is plain wood.
Age is unknown. Any guesses? ???
I'd love your feedback and comments or help identifying it. Thx!!

Time to that up with treasure nice looking

Nice chest, should hold a lot of silver coins and jewelry! :occasion14:

That's a beautiful chest...I'd be tempted to re-purpose it into a display case for my most treasured finds....

Nice. Yes I agree with using it as a display chest. Load it up with coins, jewelry, chains and such. You did a nice job cleaning it up. I bet someone would pay a good buck for it as is.

Great looking piece. I agree with the others, that would make a great display case (piece) for some of your detector finds.

Neat find....would make a nice display piece!

Fill it up with treasure, put it on display, then send me your address :)
I would have bought that too. Very cool box
